Competition Time!

Science Alive is thrilled to launch a regular competition designed to inspire kids to get creative, explore science, and showcase their amazing creations. This is a fantastic opportunity for young innovators to share their ideas, celebrate their achievements, and even win exciting rewards.

Get involved, get experimenting, and let your imagination shine — we can’t wait to see what you create! 

1. Take part in this month’s The Latest - Resource  — solo or with family, whānau, or school. 
2. Get creative and complete the activity your way!
3. Photograph or film your entry and email it to marketing@sciencealive.co.nz, including name/s, age/s and group (if relevant).
4. Share on Facebook or Instagram and ensure you tag Science Alive NZ for a bonus entry.
5. Entries open 13th April, 8pm and close 27th April 2026, 8pm.

Prize winners will be chosen no longer than 5 working days after the closing date. The announcement will be made on this page, on the Science Alive Facebook and Instagram channels, and via the Science Alive newsletter.

The winner will be contacted directly either through email or social media channels if relevant to their entry.

1. When you enter the promotion, you accept these Conditions of Entry and Competition Rules.
2. This Promotion is only open to “Eligible Entrants”, being individuals who: (i) are residents of New Zealand and (ii) are not employees or agents of the Promoter or any of its related corporations or any agencies associated with the Promotion; and (iii) are not a spouse, de facto partner, parent, child or close family member of an employee; and (iv) are year 8 or below for 2026
3. The judge’s decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
4. Winners will be contacted by phone, email or applicable social media platform directly. If we are unable to contact the winner after trying several times over a 7-day period, Science Alive may pick another winner.
5. Prize winners will be announced 5 working days after the closing date on this page, on the Science Alive Facebook and Instagram channels, and via the Science Alive newsletter.
6. Winning entries will be judged by a different Science Alive team member to their individual discretion.
7. By participating, and entering the competition participants and their guardians, agree that Science Alive Charity Trust has exclusive permission to use the submitted entries together with the children’s first names in connection with promotion of this and other related contests and the entrants and their guardians waive any claims to royalty, right or remuneration including any moral right for such use.
8. All personal details provided to participate in this promotion will be held by Science Alive for the purpose of this promotion. Entries may be used by us for future promotional and marketing purposes, unless otherwise advised by entrants.
9. Science Alive reserves the right to refuse any prize to a person who is reasonably considered to have breached any of the competition terms or gained unfair advantage in participating in the promotion or obtained a winning status using fraudulent means.
10. Science Alive reserves the right to discontinue a promotion or competition at any stage.
11. Gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. They are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Lost or stolen vouchers will not be replaced. Vouchers must be used in a single transaction and cannot be partially redeemed. They are valid online only.
12. We will do our best to notify the winners of time remaining – it is the sole responsibility of the winner to claim their prize. All unclaimed prizes will be forfeited.
13. The prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable.
