Snaps from the Month
It has been full steam ahead
Ss we’ve entered the busy time of the year for school visits to showcase our list of Outreach programme offerings, we have been to 11 schools and provided experiences for over 1,800 tamariki in schools across Canterbury just in the month of May alone!
It has been truly inspiring to see students and teachers embrace the hands-on programming that we offer.
We began the month in Glenavy,
performing experiments and creating scientific reactions with our programme Big Reactions: Fire & Ice. Tamariki were captivated by the experience and marveled at the occasionally explosive elements that occur with a little scientific curiosity.
The following week
We visited Templeton and Te Matauru with our Discovery Dome and explored the wonders of the known Solar System before wrapping the week in Waipara with some more scientific experiments.
After that we visited Opawa, Parkview, and Timaru South, performing more experiments and diving into the scientific method with keen groups of students. All of our programmes bring the learning to students, as they are part of the experience, making observations, performing tasks, and problem solving together.
The fun didn’t end there
The following week we headed out to Putahi Belfast for three days of Solar System exploration that reached every single student on campus.
We wrapped up the month with visits to West Melton and Te Waka Unua. The unifying force of STEM exploration and fascination drove each and every experience. With this many school visits it has become clear to see that Canterbury students are curious, engaged, and ready to tackle complex problems with positive attitudes and enquiring minds.
As Term 2 marches on we’ll continue providing STEM programming throughout the region. We still have some space available for Term 3, so act fast to reserve your spot!
