Byron's Monthly Wrap

It has been a busy month with the rollout of our new Outreach programming. The team has been actively engaging with schools and participating at public events, delivering STEM learning opportunities to tamariki and whānau throughout Canterbury.

Children's Day

We started the month at the Children’s Day festival with our ‘Build It’ kit that allows children to design and construct their own life-sized house. It was inspiring to see the creativity, collaboration, and hard work on display. Groups worked together to develop concepts, solve problems, and bring their ideas to life—projects they were proud to share with their whānau.

One child captured the excitement perfectly, exclaiming, “This is my dream!”

South New Brighton School

Our team also visited South New Brighton School where over the course of two days we delivered a Discovery Dome experience for every class in the school. The dome provides an immersive experience where tamariki are transported to extreme locations throughout our world and even beyond our world and into the known solar system. Children loved learning scientific content in a 360-degree environment, surrounded by striking visuals.

Thanks to the generous support of the TAIT foundation,

We are now able to offer a full day of free programming to schools that qualify based on their Equity Index scores. This initiative is helping us reach communities that may not otherwise have access to these experiences. The level of interest has been remarkable and reflects a strong enthusiasm for STEM learning throughout the region. With bookings spanning across Canterbury, we are excited to continue delivering hands-on programmes in the months ahead.

Term 3 and 4 Bookings

We offer a range of programme options tailored to different learning needs and age groups. If you are interested in bringing our Outreach programming to your community, we encourage you to complete our web form (link to web form).

As we look ahead to Term 2, our schedule is already fully booked. However, we have availability in Terms 3 and 4 and would welcome the opportunity to partner with your school or community to bring engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences to you.
