September got off to a bright start

When we took our programme ‘Wavelengths: Light and Colour’ to Methven Primary School. This hands-on session explores the surprising ways visible light behaves and how our eyes see colour. Students enjoyed a mix of group work, discussion of key concepts and terminology, and plenty of playful exploration with lights, torches, mirrors, and colour mixing.

We kept the momentum going later that week at Ohoka School with our Discovery Dome programme, ‘Our Solar System’. Planets and space capture the imagination of almost every young learner, and the dome gives tamariki a wonderful place to share their interests and learn together.

The following week, the Discovery Dome headed to Hurunui School for further solar system exploration. Every session is a little different, because we tailor both the programme and the discussion to each group, keeping the experience immersive and relevant to their learning needs.

Next, we returned to Cathedral Grammar School, where lab coats and safety goggles were the order of the day for ‘Big Reactions: Fire & Ice’, a programme full of scientific experimentation.

We wrapped up the month with a trip south to Timaru, where Bluestone School got to enjoy the wow factor and explosive components of Big Reactions.

It was a full month, and we loved every minute of it! If you’d like to bring Science Alive to your school or group, we’d love to hear from you. We’re currently taking bookings, so get in touch to find a programme that suits your learners.
