Planet Earth exhibit examples: See our exhibitions page for more

Earthquake Simulator - A garden shed type structure which will allow 3 to 4 people to stand in it and will realistically shake, complete with audio sound effects. Programmable from actual accelerographs.

Shake Table - A mechanical shake table with variable frequency and amplitude to enable the visitor to manually vary the earthquake load. By changing the shake trays the visitor can investigate the effect of an earthquake on multilevel buildings, fluidised sand bed, and building blocks.

Wind Tunnel - Variable speed fans in a tunnel large enough for two adults to stand in. Increasing the fan speed to simulate wind, with speeds up to hurricane force. This can be compared with the commonly used Beaufort Scale Wind Speed Indicator.

Wave Tank - A tank with two non-mixing coloured liquids that can be gently rocked to create and demonstrate breaking wave motion.

Tectonic Plates - A globe showing the plates, complete with the landmasses and oceans. Also there is an opportunity to identify the names of the key plates.

Lightning Discharge - See how lightning can be discharged from a top plate (representing a cloud) to the ground (representing the earth).

Tsunami - Create you own miniature tsunami and watch it sweep across the land washing around buildings and penetrating all streets. Imagine the damage it can do.

Hot Pools - An interactive to demonstrate geothermal Phenomena, resulting in geyser activity or mud pool activity and how this can be hazardous.
