Planning an Outreach visit from Science Alive!

Some programmes with a listing in the Primary and Secondary Programmes are available as Outreach. Programmes are essentially the same as those at Science Alive! but are usually set up in a suitable classroom, school hall, or library.
You provide the space, we bring the gear and the educator!
Year 1 & 2 Outreach Programmes
- These programmes require a clear floor space of approximately 8m x 8m .
- They also require a minimum of 4 adult helpers.
Year 3 to 8 Outreach Programmes
- These programmes require a floor space of 3m x 4m, plus desks for the students.
- Some science programmes require access to sinks with running water.
- Robotics programmes also require a suitable room with sufficient power points, and desks for the students.
- We recommend having 2 or 3 adult helpers.
Year 9 and 10 Outreach Programmes
- These programmes require a floor space of 3m x 4m, plus desks for the students.
- Robotics programmes require a suitable room with sufficient power points, and desks for the students.
Time & Costs:
For Christchurch City Schools
We offer daily Outreach where this is practical. Priority is given to schools booking two or more sessions a day. Times are negotiable. The cost will be $7 per student plus a charge for educators' travel costs.
Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, West Coast
A visit over several days is preferable. Schools may combine with other schools in the area - co-operative planning helps keep costs down and encourages a strong area network for future visits.
