In 1991, the Christchurch Science Technology Trust purchased the former Christchurch railway station for the establishment of a science centre.

Science Alive! officially opened on December 5th 1992.

We provide quality interactive experiences for the public and education programmes to school students.

The whole family can be entertained while learning about science and technology with hands-on experiences and shows in our Interactive Area.

Science Alive! provides a range of science and technology education programmes to schools in the Canterbury, West Coast, Nelson and Marlborough areas.

Come in and explore our Science Shop. We have an extensive range of educational toys, games and puzzles – a playground for the mind!

The Science Alive! Workshop designs and builds innovative, cost effective exhibits for science centres and museums worldwide.
